About The Chaumont, Baril, Verrette and Marcotte Family Tree website
Please sign in to see more.
Welcome to the Chaumont, Baril, Verrette and Marcotte Family Tree website. My name is Doris Chaumont Peixoto and I am the webmaster of this site. Please contact me if you have any comments or feedback. And please don't forget to sign the guest book!

This website is in honor of my late father Leopold Chaumont. I remember as a child being fascinated by all the stories my father would tell us about his family. He once described seeing a wall hanging of the Chaumont family tree while visiting Bishop Conrad Chaumont (1875 to 1966) in Montreal. His eyes shone brightly while talking about this great discovery in great detail, saying that it was traced all the way back to France. After my father's death in 1984, I was determined to find this family tree. After trying without success, I decided that I was going to trace my family on all 4 sides on my own: The Chaumont and Baril's on my father's side and the Verrette and Marcotte's on my mother's side. I had no clue where to begin! Remember this was before computers and the internet! Luckily I had assistance from the Public Archives of Canada, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints where we could order microfilm and the good ole Tangay Dictionary that could be found in libraries of small Norther Ontario towns! It has been a labor of love and a wonderful fascinating experience. Working on my family tree has giving me the opportunity to meet WONDERFUL people and to make newfound friends! Like Seeburn Chaumont and Pierre Lagacé say: Genealogy is in the blood!
I would like to take this moment to thank the following people who have provided information as well as pictures:
 My uncle Roger Chaumont
 Cousin Odyle Toupin
A huge thank you to Pierre Lagacé webmaster of: Les Ancêtres de Ste. Anne des Plaines who has been so generous in sharing pictures, lots of info and tips on how to do genealogy research. He has been a wonderful guide and friend! We get into long e-mail debates on the information we find. It is great fun! Merçi beaucoup Pierre! Sylvain Lauzon

The Family Search website created by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Your help and kindness is greatly appreciated!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy this website as much as I do. It is a work in progress as I'm combing through a lot of the Quebec parish records through the Mormon Family Search website. If you have any information that you would like to share please do so! Doris

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
